La Comisión Europea ha decido conceder algo más de 100 millones de euros del Fondo de Solidaridad a causa de las catástrofes naturales que golpearon a varios miembros de la Unión Europea. Esos países son España y Portugal, por los fuegos forestales, las islas de San Martín y la de Guadalupe, pertenecientes a Francia, y la isla neerlandesa de Sint-Maarten afectadas por los huracanes Irma y María que pasaron por dichas islas situadas cerca del continente americano a finales del año 2017. También en estos países está Grecia ya que fue sacudida por un terremoto en la isla de Lesbos, en junio del pasado año. La decisión se aprobó el pasado día 15 de febrero con el apoyo del presidente de la Comisión Europea, Jean-Claude Juncker y la comisaria de Política Regional, Corina Crețu. La ayuda servirá para aliviar la carga económica de dichos países. Los 104 millones de euros se van a repartir de la siguiente manera:
50,5
millones de euros para Portugal y 3,3 millones para España por los incendios
forestales.
Portugal
será el país que más dinero recibirá con 50 millones y medio que servirán para
apoyar los servicios de reforestación, reconstrucción y cubrir algunas partes
de los servicios de urgencias (bomberos, policías, servicios médicos...) y
también para poder restaurar bienes de interés cultural. Las zonas afectadas
fueron las provincias de Valença, Sertã, Viana do Castelo, Braga, Viseu y
Monção en las que se crearon más de 550 incendios entre finales del mes de
septiembre y principios de octubre. Recordamos que España cedió varios de sus
servicios de extinción de fuegos para poder sofocar este gran incendio.
Por su
parte España tan sólo recibirá algo 3,3 millones por los incendios de Galicia y
Asturias que fueron en el mes de octubre y que quemaron alrededor de unas
49.000 hectáreas. Si recuerdan bien, este incendio llegó a tocar mar cuando se
acercó a la ciudad gallega de Vigo. Este monumental incendio fue el conjunto de
174 incendios.
Ambos
incendios se cobraron varias vidas, en concreto, 35 fueron las víctimas
mortales de los incendios en Portugal y en España fueron tan solo 4 los muertos
a causa del incendio forestal.

49 millones de euros para las islas francesas y neerlandesas por los huracanes Irma y María.
Estas regiones
que no están en el viejo continente fueron golpeadas por devastadores huracanes
en septiembre del 2017. La isla más afectada fue la isla de San Martín. Estos
lugares recibirán un suplemento de 5 millones que se destinarán para buscar
otras maneras de proteger los territorios de los efectos del cambio climático.
Hemos de decir que el suplemento fue un anticipo de diciembre del año pasado
hasta que se aprobase esta ayuda.

1,2 millones de euros para la isla
griega de Lesbos.
Un
terremoto sacudió el pasado mes de junio la isla de Lesbos donde están millones
de refugiados. En la isla griega varios edificios se vinieron abajo y, por
aquel entonces, el gobierno griego recibió una ayuda de 136.000 euros para las
necesidades más básicas de los afectados.

The European Commission has decided
to give more than 100 millions of euros from the Solidarity Fund because
natural disasters were happened in some members of the European Union. Some of these countries are Spain, Portugal, for forest
fires, the islands of Saint Martin and Guadalupe which belong to France, and
the Dutch island of Sint-Maarten that were affected by the hurricanes Irma and
Marie which passed by all this islands of the American continent for the end of
the year 2017. Another country which is in this group of countries is Greece
because they suffered an earthquake in the island of Lesbos last year. The
decision to give this economic aid was taken at the middle of the month of
February with the support of the president of the European Commission,
Jean-Claude Juncker and of the Commissioner for Regional policy Corina Creţu. The main objective of this
financial support is to lighten the economic fee of these countries which have
had this natural disasters. The 104 millions are going to be share out in
following way:
Portugal is going to receive 50.5 millions and 3.3
millions are going to go to Spain for forest fires.
Portugal will be the country which will receive more
money with 50 millions and a half. It will serve to support and help to the
reforestation services, to rebuild and to recover some of money which was paid
to medical services, police services or the services of the firefighters who
fought against an amazing forest fire. In the provinces that were affected
there were more than 550 fires between the months of September and October. We
remind you that, Spain which is very close to Portugal, had to give up some of
its special units against fire.
For its part, Spain will only receive 3.3 millions for
the fires of Galicia and Asturias which took places at the month of October
which burned 49,000 hectares. If you remind well, this forest fire reached the
sea when it was very close to the Galician city of Vigo. This impressive fire
was a combination of 174 smaller fires.
Both forest fires killed people, exactly, it murdered 35
people in Portugal and, in Spain there were only 4 deaths as a result of the
fires.
49 millions euros for the French islands and the Dutch
islands for the hurricanes Irma and Marie.
These regions which are not located at the “Old
continent” were hit by two destructives hurricanes on September of last year.
Saint Martin was the island more affected. These places will receive a
supplement of 5 millions euros which will earmark to look for new way to
prevent disasters related with effects of the climate change. We should say
that this supplement was an advance until this financial support was approved
by the European Commission.
1.2 millions euros for the Greek island of Lesbos.
An earthquake was suffered last month of June by the
population of the third biggest island of Greece and one of the most famous
island of the world as the result of the refugees. In this Greek island some
buildings fell down and the Greek government receive an economic aid of 136,000
euros for the most basic necessities of the affected people at the island.
