LA COMISIÓN EUROPEA REALIZA UN SEGUIMIENTO DE LA PROTECCIÓN DE LOS TRABAJADORES CONTRA LOS PRODUCTOS CANCERÍGENOS
En el marco del SST (Gestión de Seguridad, Salud y Trabajo), los riesgos para la seguridad y la salud de los trabajadores deben eliminarse o, si no es posible, reducirse al mínimo. Hoy en día, son los trabajadores quienes deben identificar y evaluar los riesgos asociados con los productos químicos. La Directiva sobre los agentes cancerígenos establece una serie de disposiciones generales para prevenir o reducir la exposición con todos los carcinógenos incluidos en el ámbito de aplicación de cada trabajador. Para reducir este problema la UE está contribuyendo contra la prevención de cáncer y otros problemas de salud causado por exposición a los anteriores agentes, y en consecuencia, la calidad de vida y el bienestar mejora en las personas que están expuestas y también a sus más allegados. También la Comisión Europea, junto la Directiva de agentes cancerígenos, propone limitar la exposición de los trabajadores a cinco productos cancerígenos, además de limitar o prohibir la exposición a 21 sustancias dañinas para el ser humano. La Comisión, también ha realizado una estimación y muestran que si se aprueba esta propuesta las condiciones de trabajo de más de 1.000.000 de trabajadores de países de la UE mejorarían e, incluso, evitaría más de 22.000 enfermedades relacionadas con el trabajo.
Los cinco elementos cancerígenos que la Comisión Europea y la Directiva de agentes cancerígenos, han sido limitados a un valor máximo de concentración en el aire. Los cinco elementos seleccionados son cadmio, berilio, ácido arsénico, formaldehído y 4,4 de metileno.
Los primeros tres elementos se usan en sectores de producción y refinado de cadmio, baterías de níquel, chapado mecánico, fundición de cinc y cobre, creación de vidrio, electrónica, productos químicos y plásticos. Además, estos elementos pueden crear enfermedades incurables, como puede ser una del berilio crónico y también pueden crear distintos tipos de cáncer como puede ser el cáncer de pulmón.
La UE y la Comisión apoyan esta revisión porque defiende uno de los pilares de los Derechos Sociales Europeos.
In the main values of the EU are picked up the protection of the workers and the no exploitation of them. For this reasons, the European Commission is inspecting if the EU legislations protect the workers in a real way or are insufficient and need to improve them.

To reduce this problem the EU is contributing to cut down with the precaution of the lung cancer and other health problems caused by the exposition to the carcinogenic elements, also, it wants to help life quality and wellness of the people who are with the workers. The European Commission, in collaborating with Directive of Carcinogenic products, has made an estimation and it show that if we approve the proposition, more than 1,000,000 of workers will improve their work conditions, and, even, it will prevent more than 22,000 diseases caused by their work conditions.
The chemical elements are used in different sectors like cadmium production, lithium batteries… Besides, these elements can produce some diseases which, nowadays, are incurable.
