"Día de la UE"

La Comisión Europea va a apoyar a España cuando proponga crear un día especial, que se aplicará a las aulas, en el que se hagan actividades relacionadas con la UE como su historia, origen, valores… Esta propuesta ya fue impulsada por el presidente de España, Mariano Rajoy, durante el pasado congreso de presidentes de los estados miembros en diciembre del pasado año. La idea también fue defendida por el ministro de Educación, Cultura y Deporte, Íñigo Méndez de Vigo en el Consejo de Ministros, además de ya haberla explicado durante la Cumbre Europea de Educación, con el apoyo de los ministros de estas áreas de Portugal, Eslovenia y Estonia. Tras exponerla, el ministro español recibió el apoyo de la gran mayoría de países que conforman la Unión Europea.

Esta propuesta ha sido bien recibido en la Comisión Europea porque uno de sus objetivos es que los jóvenes y niños aumenten su conocimiento sobre la UE y extenderla por toda la población.
Entonces la propuesta será presentada oficialmente en el Parlamento Europeo para aprobarse en la próxima sesión del día 9 de mayo (Día de Europa) y la presentarán conjuntamente el Comisario de Educación, Tibor Navracsics y el Ministro de Educación español, que ya han compartido opiniones sobre cómo se podría mejorar y ser más atractiva para que se aprobase cuánto antes.

El Día de la Unión Europea intentaría transmitir los valores de pertenencia y así erradicar sentimientos como la xenofobia, nacionalismo divisivo o la divulgación de falsas noticias. Además trataría, por supuesto, de dar unos conocimientos básicos sobre la UE, como de dónde procede, cómo se formó, cómo funciona…

El Comisario de Educación y el Ministro de Educación español.

The European Commission is going to support to Spain to create a special day which will be as day where children make activities related with the EU as its history, its origins, its values… This offer was driven by the Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, during last congress of European Prime Ministers where all the Prime Ministers of Europe were, in December of last year. The idea was also defended by the Spanish Minister of Education, Íñigo Méndez de Vigo, in the Council of Minister in Spain and, later, he will explain this offer during the European Education Summit with the support of the Ministers from Portugal, Slovenia and Estonia. After present it, the Spanish received the support of most of the countries which forms the European Union.

This offer has been well received in the European Commission because one of the objectives of the EU is that young people and children increase its knowledge about the EU and spread these knowledges by all the European population. So this proposal will be presented officially at the European Parliament to approve it at the next session at the 9th of May (Day of Europe) and the suggestion will be exposed together by European Commissioner of Education, Tibor Navracsics, and the Spanish Minister, who have share their own opinions for the way to approve it and develop it and be more attractive for the Members of the European Parliament.

The “Day of the European Union” will try to broadcast the feelings of belonging to the EU and eradicate some feelings such as xenophobia or the divisive nationalism. In addiction it would try, of course, to give some basic knowledges about the EU like: where did it come from, how its history is, how does it work…
